Broadcom (BRCM) this morning said it agreed to acquire privately held Beceem Communications, a Santa Clara-based provider of 4G wireless components, for $316 million in cash. The company said the deal should be neutral to earnings in 2011. The deal is expected to close by in Q4, or by the end of Q1, and is subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.
Investors in Beceem included DoCoMo Capital, Intel Capital, Khosla Ventures, NEC, Sequoia Capital, Global Catalyst Partners, KTB Ventures, Mitsui & Co., Samsung and Walden International.
BRCM this morning is up 27 cents, or 0.7%, to $37.
