Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) today said it updated the operating system software, webOS, that runs Palm smartphones, which the company picked up with its purchase of Palm earlier this year.
HP has said it intends to offer new models of the Palm phones next year.
webOS 2.0 is “the most significant update to the platform since its launch in 2009,” HP said in a press release.
HP touts new and enhanced features, such as “true multitasking” and “Exhibition,” a way to get rolling updates from various social networking services, such as Facebook and LinkedIn.
HP shares today are down 50 cents, or 1%, at $42.82.
