VMWare Slips Despite Q3 Beat, Higher Q4 View

Enterprise software vendor VMWare (VMW) this afternoon reported Q3 revenue and earnings per share ahead of analysts’ estimates.

Revenue in the three months ended in September rose 32% to $941.9 million, yielding EPS of 53 cents a share, excluding some costs.

Analysts had been modeling $929.4 million and 50 cents a share.

CFO Mark Peek said the company saw growth “across all products,” and that demand “was especially strong in the Asia-Pacific markets and we also experienced the seasonal impact of sales to the U.S. Federal Government.”

For Q4, the company sees revenue in a range of $1.03 billion to $1.06 billion, ahead of the average $1.032 billion estimate.

VMWare will host a conference call at 4 pm, Eastern, this afternoon, and you can catch it here.

VMWare shares are down $3.58, or 4%, at $85.94 in late trading.
