Apple: Go Buy An iPad, Dave

Here’s my favorite comment from this morning’s batch of Street research on the Apple (AAPL) iPad, which comes from a commentary by Oppenheimer analyst Yair Reiner.

My God, it’s full of stars!

Saturday’s iPad launch was weirdly reminiscent of the opening scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey in which an inscrutable black monolith appears among primates and mysteriously sparks the beginning of technological evolution (at the time, using a bone to club your enemy). With the iPad, too, there is the sense of something important has appearedin potentia. In our initial tinkering with the device, we have been enormously impressed by its overall feel and speed and the way it allows a user to sink into content and applications in a very visceral way. But bouncing around one’s underpopulated home screen and sparsely outfitted app store, one also feels like the real fun will only get started as more apps become available.
