Those crazy guys at iFixit have gotten their hands on Apple‘s (AAPL) new iPad model and offer their usual stimulating autopsy. The folks picked up their unit from Australian carrier Telstra.
They believe they’ve identified the 9.7-inch LCD as coming from Samsung Electronics (005930KS).
For semiconductor fans playing at home, iFixit confirm there’s a driver chip from Texas Instruments (TXN), the “CD3240″; a Wifi, Bluetooth, and FM transceiver chip from Broadcom (BRCM), called the “BCM4330,” and a “BCM5973″ I/O controller chip; a Fairchild Semiconductor (FCS) “FDMC 6683″; a Toshiba (6502JP) “ZX0730 1123KLD”; a Qualcomm (QCOM) “RTR 8600″ RF transceiver, “PM8028″ power management IC, and “MDM9600″ 3G and 4G baseband; and a Triquint (TQNT) “TQM7M5013″ linear power amplifier.
