The Consumer Electronics Show just announced that Paul Jacobs, CEO of Qualcomm(QCOM) will be the keynote speaker for this year’s event, which runs January 8th through the 11th in Las Vegas.
Qualcomm’s slot at the top comes at a time when the company is increasingly competing with the dominant PC vendor, Intel (INTC) to define the future of mobile computing. It is an interesting change of pace for a show that has traditionally been organized around presentations from Intel and from Microsoft (MSFT). Microsoft and other PC companies have minimized their role in the show in recent years.
